OUR TOWN Benefit

In November 2017, following the devastation of Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria, we presented a benefit reading of OUR TOWN to support the Center for Popular Democracy’s Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund. The evening raised $500K to support organizations working on the frontlines to bring immediate relief, recovery and equitable rebuilding to the low-income communities of color hit hardest by the storm.
The Benefit was dreamt up by Scarlett Johansson, who brought on board Tony Award winning Director Kenny Leon and rallied her co-stars from Avengers: Infinity War to headline the performance: Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Frank Grillo and Maximiliano Hernandez. They performed for over 3,500 raucous audience members at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta (where Avengers was filming at the time).
